ZIMMERS HOLE Pulls Out Of SOILWORK European Tour
October 26, 2008ZIMMERS HOLE — the Vancouver-based project featuring guitarist Jed Simon and bassist Byron Stroud of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD alongside legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TESTAMENT, DEATH, DARK ANGEL) — has issued the following update:
"As of today, ZIMMERS HOLE is no longer a part of the upcoming European tour with SOILWORK.
"Drummer Gene Hoglan has suffered a death in his family. From our hearts, we send gene and the entire Hoglan family all of our love, and deepest condolences at this difficult time. The Hoglan family is the 'first family of metal', and we are all deeply saddened.
"Also, bassist Byron Stroud is nursing a broken hand. Byron is not only our bassist, his duties also include band manager, and road manager. he is vital to us.
"While Byron's injury was untimely, he felt he could be ready in time for the tour. With the sad news from the Hoglan family, there was no way we could do this and be focussed in any way.
"Apologies go out to all of our European fans and agents. We'll miss you. We ask for your understanding at a very tough time for all of us."
"When You Were Shouting At The Devil...We Were In League With Satan", the new video from ZIMMERS HOLE, can be viewed below. The song is the title track of the Vancouver-based band's new album, which was released on March 11 via Century Media Records. An e-card for the CD is available at this location.
Born in 1991, ZIMMERS HOLE has been Byron and Jed's significant other band when not busy with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD or FEAR FACTORY. In the beginning, it was always just a way of spending the weekend drinking far too much and writing absurd songs. As time went on, the group "matured" somewhat, although maturity is highly overrated as far as these guys go, but two remarkable albums ("Bound By Fire" and "Legion of Flames"),a series of successful tours and a string of absolutely unforgettable shows soon followed, putting the mighty ZIMMERS HOLE on the lips of many.
